Tesla Front License Plate Holder for Model Y 2023

Tesla sends a free front license plate holder with its new cars. Or at least that was the case with my new Model Y. I picked it up in 2023. And since I’m in a two-plate state, I had to find a way to mount the front holder.

There are many paid options out there. But after some research, I decided they’re not worth it. Why pay more? Instead, I decided to go with the default front license plate holder that comes with the Tesla. It’s easy to install…

How to Install Tesla Model Y Front License Plate Holder

The short video above shows me installing the Tesla Model Y front license plate holder. It’s a hands-on video and here are the main steps to consider…

  1. Clean the front of the Tesla: Wipe down the mounting surface with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or debris. This will help to make sure the bracket adheres properly. Many people also recommend a microfiber cloth.
  2. Partially remove adhesive tape: Remove top tape and pull down the top part of the tape cover on both sides. Let it hang off to the side.
  3. Position and place front license plate holder: Line up the holder with where you want it stuck on the Tesla. It is also fitted to be in the center and when ready, place it on the front of the car.
  4. Fully remove tape and apply pressure: Remove the tape and evenly apply pressure to where the adhesive is.
  5. Check the installation: Make sure the license plate is securely attached to the Tesla. Check that the license plate is level and not blocking any lights or sensors on the car.

It’s as easy as that! It shouldn’t take more than five to ten minutes to prepare and install. The Tesla front license plate holder seems to be solid. The company has built an excellent car and the front mount seems to be up to par.

I was initially worried it might not stick for long but so far, I haven’t had any issues. I’ve also taken my Tesla through some extremely cold places.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the Tesla front license plate holder. I’m also most responsive to my YouTube comments.
